Blackburn Rovers got an important victory against a strangely lacklustre Fulham side who, in recent weeks, have been fairing poorly. Surprisingly, their last win was against Manchester United – why can’t we ever beat the Red Devils? We’re cursed.

On Wednesday night, the relegation battle takes another important twist as Wigan travel to the stadium in order to achieve their first win, though recent times have suggested that back-to-back victories seem to elude Wigan, so lets hope tomorrow we get a bit of luck and get another good away win, which would really set the cat amongst the pigeons.

Wigan go into the game on the back of a very important 2-0 win at Molineux which has deepened the relegation worries of the club but also showed that there is light at the end of the tunnel this season as far as the Latics are concerned and their fans deserved some respite after some very poor performances this season. The less said about the Lane, the better.

Recent results have been so-so for the Latics so they go into this game knowing that if they can nick a win, their relegation worries will begin to disappear somewhat but if Blackburn win, it may mean their relegation worries take a turn for the better as they begin to erase them and get their season back on track.

The importance of a win at Molineux should not be underestimated as I believe it could be a long slog for the team as I believe it will be for Hull City and Portsmouth. I feel a point at Ewood would be a great result and would suit Blackburn as well as they make strides towards safety. I don’t believe either club will go down this year.

BLACKBURN: PLAYER TO WATCH: BENNI MCCARTHY
==========================================

The lad’s got a point to prove and wants to get back to scoring ways – Bramble and Caldwell will need to be at their absolute best.

WIGAN: PLAYER TO WATCH: CHARLES N’ZOGBIA
=========================================

When this guy’s on fire, he really hits top notch. He will want to follow on his good performance against Wolves with another demolition of Blackburn – but this game, with all due respect to Wolves, will be a tougher test.

ROB’S PREDICTION
================

As you well know, none of my predictions have been great as long as I have done this but I enjoy it vastly so I think we could, just could, leave Ewood with a hard earnt point, but Blackburn are no mugs at home. They can score.

Blackburn 1 Wigan 1

ROB’S FINAL THOUGHT
====================

I’m intrigued to see who our new signing will be – perhaps Wednesday will give a clearer picture.
