It is being reported that Birmingham City have come back with an improved offer to Wigan Athletic for player of the season Charles N`Zogbia after having an £8 million bid knocked back last week.

Latics chairman Dave Whelan was quoted as saying that Birmingham would need to double their offer to enable Roberto Martinez release his prize asset though a bid in the region of £10 – £12 million is thought to be an acceptable figure to the club.

Funds are needed so that Martinez can continue his rebuilding and with N`Zogbia on a reputed £60,000 per week to get him off the wage bill would also release cash to fund more players for the squad.
