Latics and Colchester have met 20 times down the years
Latics have 9 wins, Colchester 8, draws 3
The first meeting between the two clubs came in a Division 4 fixture at Layer Road on the 30 October 1981, the Latics winning the game 2-1, the last meeting was back in January 2003, the Latics winning that one as well, a League Division 2 clash at the then named JJB Stadium, the score once again 2-1 in our favour.
The most memorable game between the two clubs for myself was actually a defeat on the 9th November 2001, 2-3 at the JJB, the Latics were out fought and out thought that day by a spirited Colchester who had former home fans favourite Gavin Johnson on their team, two goals down at half time Latics got back in the game with an own goal and an Andy Liddell effort, but Colchester found a winner with just over ten minutes of the game remaining. My abiding memory of the day was the Latics supporters applauding the Colchester players off at the end of the game.

This week’s crew in the studio are Gareth, Adam, Kathryn, Rob, Simon and Barry.
We start off with the Bury ‘Off The Terrace’ report and the stats from the game.
What a game again for the travelling support, two goals, Grant Holt and Cisco Junior, no beer on sale, Flitcroft bemoaning the referee and Leon Barnett in comedy fall, it’s all here.
We have Colchester at the DW Stadium on Saturday, Kathryn steps in for the poorly Dan and delivers his preview, in typical Dan style.
Simon gives us the bookies odds, this one is all about the Latics.
Peterborough away on Tuesday and Barry’s done a preview, he’s also making the long trip and hoping for the win!
