Wigan Athletic could be set to make their first signing of the summer this week, but it will be a familiar face that will be putting pen to paper as Roberto Martinez looks set to seal the capture of keeper Ali Al-Habsi from Bolton Wanderers.
Latics chairman Dave Whelan has backed the decision by boss Roberto Martinez to stay at the DW Stadium by sanctioning a £4 million deal for Al-Habsi, who spent a successful season on loan at Wigan claiming the player of the season award for 2010/11.
Bolton have rejected two previous bids from the Latics for Al-Habsi, but the latest of £4 million plus add-ons looks to have clinched the deal and the Oman international could be a Wigan Athletic player by next weekend when he returns to the UK from the Gulf where he is currently visiting family.
