Wigan Athletic have given a weeks trial to 20 year old striker Ryan Donnelly who plays for Scottish 2nd Division club Airdrie United.

The youngster has been in top for this season banging in 25 goals in just 33 games, a great strike rate at any level

Airdrie boss Jimmy Boil confirmed that Donnelly is spending the week with the Latics, he told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser: “Wigan spoke to us and we had no problem with Ryan going down for the week.

“It will be a good experience for the boy. He`s played a bounce game down there and did fine. He`s enjoying it.

“He has had a very good season and it`s great for him to see this level as that is where he wants to get to.

“Hopefully he will continue to work hard and get to where he wants to be.”

Anyone know what a bounce game is?
