A postcard from Austria

Very bitter blue was one of three Latics fans to make the long journey to Austria .Here’s some of his thoughts from todays’ game

Todays game was played at midday in blistering heat which didn’t help Latics.

The game was refereed by a female ref which was a first for the Latics.

Latics didn’t play well, Martinez employed a back four, two central midfielders and two wingers with an attacking midfielder sitting behind a striker.

It was a poor first half and Latics could have been easily five down at half time.

Of the new players Thomas was workmanlike and although Latics only had a few half chances it looks like Gomez will score a few.

Of the exisitng players, Cattermole was by far the best and De Ridder doesn’t look good enough.

Not too worried yet as the game had the feel of a training game rather than a real match.

Thanks to very bitter blue for his text updates.
