Wigan Athletic have only 6 points left to play for in this year’s battle in the Championship.

With the games dwindling down now at the real business end of the campaign as Wigan Athletic find themselves heading towards the end of May, two matches mean a maximum return of six more points for the year of 2016/17.

Sitting in 23nd place in the relegation spots in the Championship on 41 points, we are four points behind Blackburn Rovers and six from Birmingham City in the last safety position, so it’s going to be tight but if Birmingham and Blackburn slip up, victory over Reading this weekend would keep survival alive and allow us to take it to the last match day but it’s very much the proverbial squeaky bum time now.

Some will have no hope at all left, but everyone will be hoping those more optimistic will be proven right as we have the better goal difference on Birmingham and the point against Cardiff could’ve been crucial.
